Most area schools will be starting after the Labor Day weekend holiday, on Tuesday, Sept. 7. So area drivers will want to keep their eyes open for the smaller students unfamiliar with the whole process of walking or riding a bike to school, as well the older students who may be inattentive. | City of Harmony pursues mosquito control options |
The city of Harmony will be doing demonstration mosquito control with two separate applications in the coming weeks. Mosquito Control of Iowa will be working with the city to treat breeding areas and other parts of the community with the first application to take place sometime between Thursday, Aug 26, to Sunday, Aug 29. | Regional tourism organization celebrates 25th anniversary |
Members of the Historic Bluff Country organization gathered Monday evening for a special celebration in honor of its 25th anniversary. This local convention and visitor's bureau has helped promote attractions, lodging facilities and local businesses throughout southeastern Minnesota since 1985. Fillmore Central looks at new custodian; referendum promotion

The Fillmore Central School Board, scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 24 was expected to have hired Brett Bushman as the building and grounds director. The agenda for the meeting stated he started in that position Aug. 9 (The meeting was held after the press deadline for this newspaper; watch for full coverage next week.)
